The
Bible itself says that one day new revelation equal to scripture will be delivered
to the world.
Jesus
said that John the Baptist was Elijah and this was in fulfilment of the
prophecy that Elijah would come and restore all things (Matthew 17:11-13).
Bible
Christians believe that Malachi 1:2-4 states that the messenger will be sent to
prepare the way for the Lord coming to the temple and the sacrifices of Judah
and Jerusalem will once more please God and the sons of Levi will be purified
that the Baptist is the messenger and his coming before Jesus in the first
century was only a part fulfilment of this prophecy and the rest will be
fulfilled later when the temple and the priesthood are restored. John restored nothing when he came the first
time so that means that John who is Elijah will come again and give new
revelation and he will restore the lost priesthood of Levi after the temple in
Revelation
ends with a warning that anybody who adds any words to it or removes from it
will be severely punished by God and lose
salvation. Christians say that because
this is the last chapter of the last book of the Bible that it proves that the
canon is closed. This is wrong for first
of all this does not make the chapter mean the whole Bible. The chapter says it means the prophecy
Revelation makes. And there is the
problem of whether Revelation really was the last book to be written. Nobody can be sure and you can’t make a dogma
out of something that is little more than an assumption. It wouldn’t be fair on God. And the chapter is referring to unauthorised
additions and subtractions from God. If God wanted to change the book that would be okay. So even if it could mean the whole Bible it
does not eliminate the possibility that God will write further books. God has to issue new scripture some day.
A
clever enough fraud could add to the Bible.
He could make people think he is the Elijah.
